If you think that your MIL takes pleasure in things that would totally bore you - such as spending hours over the phone with the same person every day, visiting them every other day and inviting them round to visit her every four days, remember that she probably doesn't think your past-times are very appealing either. Never belittle them or act like they are not leading a fulfilling life even if it looks that way to you.
Accept your in-laws lifestyle decision as sacred and precious to them; and get on with your own fulfilling lifestyle in content. Each to his own. :)
